Winters Farmers Market reopens Sunday, May 2, 9 am – 1 pm
The Winters Farmers Market re-opens on Sunday, May 2nd, 9 am to 1 pm, at Rotary Park (Railroad Avenue at Main Street) in Downtown Winters, CA.
The Market will be open every Sunday, including July 4th, through October 31.
Market manager Ana Kormos says the Market is returning with the best of the first season. "We'll have additional vendors, a continued focus on local products, live music, and a monthly crafts fair." Every Sunday the Market will have plenty of fresh, locally grown produce as well as baked goods, flowers, honey, wine, cheese, olive oil, free-range chicken, grass-fed beef and lamb, wool and garden starts.
Twelve growers, ranchers and producers have been confirmed for opening day, including: Berryessa Gap (wine); Cabral Farms (olive oil and nuts); Cache Creek Meat Co. (organic chicken); Grow Rite Farms (vegetables, strawberries and eggs); Lucky Dog Ranch (grass-fed beef); M.J. Livestock (grass-fed lamb); Orange Wood Farms (garden starts); Quinta de Sol (olive oil); Sunshine Farms (organic vegetables); Turkovich Wine & Cheese (cheese and honey); Vue Farms (vegetables and flowers); and Judith Eash (pistachios and wool). Another ten producers will come int the Winters Farmers Market as their produce comes into season. Food vendors for opening day include: Winters restaurants, Steady Eddy's (coffee, tea and smoothies) and El Pueblo Taqueria (breakfast burritos and tamales); plus Upper Crust Bakery (breads and cookies) and Ciocolat (pastries) of Davis; Santa Fe Tortillas (tortillas) in Sacramento; and East West Gourmet Afghan Food (bolanis, pepper jellies and spreads) of Concord.
The Putah Creek Crawdads, a Yolo County acoustic vocal and string band, bring their own special blend of folk, Americana, gospel and bluegrass music to the Winters Farmers Market. Musical entertainment is planned for every Market.
This year, the Winters Farmers Market is hosting a monthly handmade arts and crafts fair with approximately 20 crafters the first Sunday of every month (except on July 4th). The July crafts fair will be held on July 11th.
Also new to the market is the Market's kitchen tasting food shed. Kormos explains, "The kitchen tasting food shed will offer samples and tastings of market produce as well as market fresh foods available for purchase." The Market also will be accepting Farmers Market Nutrition Program WIC and Senior coupons again this year.
