Winters Farmers Market moves to Thursday evenings, 5-8:30 pm through October 28

On July 8th, the Winters Farmers Market moved from Sundays 9 am-1 pm to Thursdays from 5-8:30 pm through October 28th and will continue to be held in Rotary Park. The transition to Thursday evenings coincides with the Winters Friends of the Library July Summer Concerts at the Gazebo in Rotary Park, from 7:00 to 8:30 pm. The Market will continue the musical entertainment from August through October.WintersFM
Ana Kormos, manager of the Winters Farmers Market, says the change in day and time reflects the summer routines of local residents. "Winters is a very traditional town. Local residents still enjoy walking around town on summer evenings. Having the Market in conjunction with the Winters Friends of the Library Concert series seemed like the best way to grow the Market's appeal. We'll have the same 16 plus vendors, selling farm-fresh produce and delicious food-to-go. The Winters Market Kitchen will continue to prepare food for sale, all of it sourced from the Market." Local Winters businesses–The Buckhorn, Ficelle and Putah Creek Cafe are open for dinner—and the tasting rooms at Berryessa Gap Winery and Turkovich Family Wines are also open on Thursday evenings. Kormos says the Sunday market attracted 75 to 100 regular shoppers each week. "We just weren't seeing the number of shoppers increase over time. We're ready to try a more festival-style market in the evenings."

All the current farmers who sell at the Winters Farmers Market will continue to be at the Thursday Market, as will local cafes El Pueblo Tacqueria and Steady Eddie's, plus Ciocolat and Upper Crust Bakery of Davis, and East West Gourmet Afghan Food of Concord.

Musical groups performing at the Winters Friends of the Library concert series include:
    • July 8–Zapato Viejo (traditional and contemporary Latin American music)
    • July 15–Woodland Community Band (patriotic music, swing music and show tunes)
    • July 22–Mae McCoy and the Neon Stars (music "as country as cornbread, as sophisticated as Tiffany's")
    • July 29–Teresa Tudury with Ben Buettner and Keith Cary (whom LA Weekly calls "a cross between Bette Midler and Bonnie Raitt".
