Oakdale Cheese Honored with Award

Davis Farmers Market vendor honored with the American Artisanal Treasure Award for Best Cheese.

The Davis Farmers Market's own Oakdale Cheese & Specialties won the The Cheese Store of Beverly Hills Fifth Annual American Artisanal Treasure Award for Best in Cheese for its Aged Gouda.

This contest was created to honor producers of handmade specialty foods across the United States. The theme for the 2008 American Artisanal Treasure Awards is "Green," as in Green Grocer.  The Cheese Store of Beverly Hills sent out a call for submissions to the California Federation Of Certified Farmers Markets and beyond.  The products were judged on May 29, 2008 by an esteemed panel of experts including Kit Rachlis, Editor in Chief, Los Angeles Magazine;Carolynn Spence, Executive Chef, Bar Marmont; Amy Albert, Senior Editor, Bon Appetit Magazine; Hans Goplen, Executive Chef, The Farm of Beverly Hills; Barbara Brass, West Coast Regional Director of Sales, Wolfgang Puck Catering; Suzanne Arros, Catering Coordinator, Regent Beverly Wilshire Hotel; and John Laroquette, actor/celebrity foodie.

The Davis Farmers Market congratulates Oakdale Cheese & Specialties and encourages the community to come to the market and discover all of the treasures the Davis Farmers Market has to offer.
