Davis Farmers Market in full swing on July 4th; many activities planned for Central Park that day
The Davis Farmers Market will be open on Saturday, July 4th from 8 am to 1 pm and the market will be jam-packed with summer fruits and vegetables, including blackberries, blueberries, apricots, peaches, pluots, nectarines, cherries, tomatoes, corn, green beans, mushrooms, and herbs; plus dried fruit, nuts, olive oil, baked goods, flowers, plants and garden starts. Craft booths line the north end of the Park.
The band, Over Forte, will bring their special brand of Dixieland, blues, ragtime and jazz of all types to the Market that day from 10 am to 12 noon. Over Forte musicians—who hail from Davis, Woodland, Dixon and Sacramento—have been performing the music of earlier decades together since 1996.
The 49th annual Kiwanis Kiddie Parade—a patriotic display from Davis' youngest residents—begins at 9:00 am, with parade entrants gathering next to Ciocolat Extraordinary Desserts, on 3rd Street just west of B Street. Judging for awards will begin at 9:30 am. Scooters, bicycles, wagons, strollers, walkers and groups will be judged based on creativity, patriotism and enthusiasm. At 10 am the parade begins to march across B Street into Central Park, with the parade ending in the shaded sycamore grove, where refreshments will be provided. The Davis Jazz Band will perform on the Rotary Stage following the awards ceremony. For more information, contact Heather Ringer (530) 400-8291 or Jerry Hallee (530) 848-5882.

East Quad Farmers Market at UC Davis
Every Wednesday – Fall & Spring Quarters – Last Spring Quad Market June 3~!!Wednesdays 10:00am to 2:30pm on the East Quad. The East Quad Farmers Market (EQFM) at UC Davis is a successful collaboration that has increased access to fresh, local produce for busy UC Davis students, staff and faculty during fall and spring quarters. A 2007 survey of UC Davis students found that 60 percent eat two or fewer servings of nutrition-packed fruits and vegetables a day. By increasing access to fresh produce, we hope to make it easier for students, staff and faculty to incorporate more fruits and vegetables into their diet. New this year, the Healthy Snack Program.
