Go hog-wild with us at Pig Day, March 1st!

Ms Piggie

Saturday, March 1st is Davis Farmers Market's 23rd annual Pig Day, celebrating pigs, local food and local agriculture.

The Market opens at 8 am, and from 9 am to 1 pm, shoppers and visitors will find baby pigs to pet, people in pig costumes to dance with, and pig-out eats to go hog-wild for at Davis Farmers Market. It's also the only event of its kind in California.

Pork and bacon eats will rule the day. Sutter Davis Hospital's Live Cooking Station will be cooking and sampling a pork stir fry made from Bledsoe pork and market vegetables, and sharing recipe cards for the stir fry. Davis Farmers Market food vendors will be offering a wide array of pig-themed eats and Yolo County Food Bank also offers a farm breakfast of pancakes, bacon and juice with proceeds benefiting the local community.

Kids can also make FREE piggy crafts at booths sponsored by Davis Parent Pre-School, Davis Community Church Nursery School and University Covenant Nursery School, plus pony rides and a petting zoo (for a fee).

UC Davis Farmers Market

Every Wednesday, 11 am - 1:30 pm – Fall & Spring Quarters

The UC Davis Farmers Market will re-open at the Silo Union on Wednesday, April 2, 2014, 11 am to 1:30 pm. This successful collaboration between Davis Farmers Market and UC Davis has increased access to fresh, local produce for busy UC Davis students, staff and faculty during fall and spring quarters. In addition to providing fresh produce from local farmers, UC Davis Farmers Market plans to bring food options outside to the market to create a lunch time destination.
